My Final Stand

I watch the clouds go drifting by
Dark shadows in the sky
A thought of you drifts through my mind
It makes me want to cry

I would have given you the world
But your heart lies not with me
I didn't want to leave you
But I couldn't make you see

It wasn't for another
That I took my final stand
When I reached out to hold you
You wouldn't take my hand

I tried to free your heart
From the walls you built around
Then I slowly watched this dream
Come crashing to the ground

I would have given you my life
And sacrificed my own
But if this is a one way ride
I'd rather ride alone

I need to heal this aching heart
And mend my broken soul
I need to grasp my sanity
And make myself a whole

So my choice is made today
With a pain you'll never know
I journey down my chosen road
Knowing I walk alone
